Competencies and objectives

 

Course context for academic year 2024-25

"Building Construction and Industrialized Construction" is an elective subject from the seventh semester of the Undergraduate Program in Civil Engineering. This subject is part of the Route 1 Elective Subjects ("Public Works"). In order to reach a satisfactory level of achievement it is recommended that the students are already proficient with the following competences:

  • Structural analysis of both statically determinate and indeterminate frames.
  • Design of steel structures and reinforced concrete structures.
  • Design of foundation structures and retaining walls.
  • Proficiency with the application of the Spanish and European standards for actions in buildings, steel structures and reinforced concrete structures.

Following the commitment adopted by the UA to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals promulgated by the UN, this subject specifically contributes to the achievement of the following objectives:
SDG 9. Industry, innovation and infrastructure.
SDG 11. Sustainable cities and communities.
SDG 12. Responsible production and consumption.

Specific Competences (Specific Technology):>>Civil Construction

  • CEC1 : Understand the typology and bases for the calculation of pre-fabricated elements and their application to fabrication processes.
  • CEC2 : Understand the planning, calculation, construction and maintenance of building works as regards structure, finishes, installations and specific equipment.

 

Basic Transversal Competences

  • CB2 : Students should know how to apply their knowledge to their job or vocation in a professional manner and should have those skills that are usually reflected when preparing and defending arguments and solving problems in their field of study.
  • CB3 : That students have the ability to gather and interpret relevant data (usually within their area of study) in order to make judgements that include reflection on relevant social, scientific or ethical issues.
  • CB4 : Students should be able to transmit information, ideas, problems and solutions to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
  • CB5 : Students should have developed the necessary learning skills to undertake later studies with a high level of autonomy.
