Course context for academic year 2024-25
La asignatura se encuadra en el 5º semestre de la titulación de Ingeniería Civil y es la tercera que se imparte en el área de conocimiento de Ingeniería del Terreno. Se pretende dotar al alumno, tras los conocimientos básicos adquiridos en Mecánica de Suelo y Mecánica de las Rocas, de los conocimientos necesarios para solucionar problemas geotécnicos generales aplicados a la ingeniería y poder afrontar con éxito las asignaturas del área de semestres posteriores, a saber: Construcciones Geotécnicas y Geotecnia de Obras Hidráulicas, que son aplicaciones específicas de Geotecnia y Cimientos.

Specific Competences (Civil Branch)
- CE5 : Understand geotechnics and soil and rock mechanics and their application to carrying out studies, projects, constructions and exploitations where it is necessary to carry out earth movements, foundations and containment structures.

- CB3 : That students have the ability to gather and interpret relevant data (usually within their area of study) in order to make judgements that include reflection on relevant social, scientific or ethical issues.
