Course context for academic year 2024-25
The course aims to situate students of first course face to face with the professional world of civil engineer and the construction business. The Civil Engineer should be a company man/woman, since this is the context where they will play their work. Therefore the business world, especially in the field of the construction sector, will be the priority subject of the course, as well as leadership, organization and management of enterprises, without forgetting the fundamental role that Civil Engineer usually play there.

General Competences (CG)
- CG6 : Suitable understanding of the concept of companies, institutional and legal framework of companies. Company organisation and management.
Competencias Generales (Objetivos)
- O1 : Capacitació científica-tècnica per a l'exercici de la professió d'Enginyer Tècnic d'Obres Públiques i coneixement i exercici de les funcions d'assessoria, anàlisi, planificació, disseny, càlcul, projecte, direcció, construcció, gestió, manteniment, conservació i explotació en l'àmbit de l'Enginyeria Civil.
- O3 : Coneixement, comprensió i capacitat per a aplicar la legislació necessària durant l'exercici de la professió d'Enginyer Tècnic d'Obres Públiques.
- O9 : Coneixement i capacitat d'aplicació de tècniques de gestió empresarial i legislació laboral.
UA Basic Transversal Competences
- CT14 : Capacitat d'autocrítica necessària per a l'anàlisi i millora de la qualitat d'un projecte.
- CT7 : Capacity for oral and written exposition.
Basic Transversal Competences
- CB1 : Students should show they possess and understand knowledge in a field of study that continues from general secondary education and is usually found at a level which, although supported by advanced textbooks, also includes certain aspects that involve knowledge arising from the cutting edge of their field of study.
- CB2 : Students should know how to apply their knowledge to their job or vocation in a professional manner and should have those skills that are usually reflected when preparing and defending arguments and solving problems in their field of study.
- CB3 : That students have the ability to gather and interpret relevant data (usually within their area of study) in order to make judgements that include reflection on relevant social, scientific or ethical issues.
- CB4 : Students should be able to transmit information, ideas, problems and solutions to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
