Competencies and objectives

Course context for academic year 2024-25

The subject "Chemical Fundamentals of Civil Engineering" is a basic training subject for the first semester of the degree in Civil Engineering. As a first semester subject, there is no requirement to take it.

The subject is divided into theory, group tutoring and laboratory. All these face-to-face activities are focused on giving the future graduate a basic scientific-technical training that will allow them to develop the rest of their degree with the necessary tools to understand processes of great importance in Civil Engineering. The basic orientation of the subject has a special impact on the general knowledge of matter and its properties. Said knowledge is applied with special emphasis in the area of metallic materials and binders, where their basic and applied properties are developed, as well as the main conditions related to their durability, since these are the most used materials in applications of Civil Engineering.
