La asignatura Fundamentos de Derecho penal se sitúa en el segundo semestre del 2º curso del Grado en Criminología. El objetivo fundamental es el dominio del contenido y de la regulación legal de una serie de instituciones comunes a las diversas infracciones penales contenidas en el Código penal.
La asignatura se divide en dos partes. La primera, de carácter introductorio, comprende el estudio del concepto de Derecho penal y los principios que lo informan, así como la teoría de la ley penal. La segunda se dedica al estudio de la teoría jurídica del delito, donde se analizan los elementos del delito, así como las diferentes formas de autoría y participación en el delito, sus posibles grados de ejecución del crimen y los supuestos de concurrencia de infracciones penales.
