Course context for academic year 2024-25
Sports equipment and facilities make up the environment in which physical and sporting activities are carried out.
Society is increasingly demanding not only a greater number of sports facilities and installations but also greater diversity and quality in them.
The profile of the sports facilities manager must incorporate knowledge and tools that allow him/her to carry out functions related to the planning, design and management of sports facilities and equipment. Attending to different public profiles and guaranteeing safety, accessibility, sustainability and full compliance with the regulations that affect this type of facility.

- CG1.1 : Capacity to identify, list, analyse, synthesise and apply the conceptual content determined by the subjects studied for the Sciences of Physical Activity and Sport degree.
- CG1.2 : Ability to manage information and knowledge in new and complex situations, problem solving and decision making for the development of instrumental and procedural contents of the subjects of the degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences.
- CG3.1 : Capacity to design, apply and evaluate high-quality processes, programs and projects in the fields of teaching, training and the promotion of health and recreational sport

Specific Competences
- AC5.1 : Analyse, diagnose and evaluate the elements, structure, situation and characteristics of all types of physical activity and sport organisations as well as the legislative and legal elements linked to physical activity and sport.
- AC5.3 : Identify, organise, direct, plan, coordinate, implement and assess the professional performance of human resources, with emphasis on the management, coordination, planning, supervision and technical-scientific assessment of the activity, performance and provision of services by physical activity and sport professionals, in all types of services and in any type of organisation, context, environment and with emphasis on special populations and in any sector of professional intervention in physical activity and sport, guaranteeing safety, efficiency and professionalism in the activity performed in compliance with the regulations in force.
- AC5.4 : Identify, organise, direct, plan, coordinate, implement and carry out technical-scientific evaluation of organisational resources and material resources and sport facilities, including their basic and functional design as well as adequate selection and use, for each type of activity, with the aim of achieving safe, efficient and healthy physical and sport activities, adapted to the development, characteristics and needs of individuals and the typology of the activity, space and entity in any type of organisation, population, context and in any sector of professional intervention in physical activity and sport, with emphasis on special populations and guaranteeing safety, efficiency and professionalism in the activity carried out in compliance with the regulations in force.
- AC5.5 : Articulate and deploy advice, certification, and technical-scientific evaluation of physical activity and sport activities and resources in all physical activity and sport services, contexts, environments and sectors of professional intervention in physical activity and sport as well as in the design and drafting of technical reports in all physical activity and sport services.
- AC6.4 : Articulate and deploy procedures, processes, protocols, own analysis, with rigour and scientific attitude on matters of social, legal, economic, scientific or ethical nature, when necessary and relevant in any professional sector of physical activity and sport (formal and informal physical and sports education; physical and sports training; physical exercise for health; management of physical activity and sport).

- Ability to determine the main characteristics of Technical Sports Buildings and Facilities, as well as the sports flooring present in the facility.
- Know and identify the existing accessibility and safety problems in a sports facility.
- To learn to recognise the Conservation and Maintenance Systems present in a sports facility.
- Know the Technological Use Models used in the management of sports equipment and facilities.
- To be able to analyse and diagnose sports facilities and installations, determining their main strengths and priority areas for improvement.
- Be able to propose solutions to the areas of improvement detected when studying a sports facility.
- Identify, organise and evaluate human resources in terms of sports facilities.

- Differentiate between the different types of equipment and facilities according to their characteristics.
- To know the evolution of the sports system in relation to sports infrastructure and facilities.

- Assess the importance of planning in the field of sports infrastructures and facilities
- Know the regulatory framework to which the planning and management of sports facilities must be subjected
- Know the basic criteria recommended for the design of different sports facilities.
- Know the different normative and regulatory characteristics for the different sports facilities and spaces.
- Develop preventive and corrective maintenance plans applicable to sports facilities.
- Comply with current health, risk prevention and environmental regulations when managing sports facilities.
- Assess accessibility in sports facilities, being aware of the existing social reality.
- Be able to plan and assess safety in sports facilities and events.
- Know the mechanisms of management of public sports facilities and their procedures.
- Plan management and coordination protocols within the scope of a sports facility.
