La  Historia del Arte es una materia que aborda el análisis del hecho artístico en sus múltiples facetas. Un fenómeno complejo cuyo estudio sistematiza y de este modo lo hace comprensible.

Teniendo en cuenta el amplio marco cronológico y geográfico de la asignatura, ésta se ha planteado como una aproximación, general pero rigurosa, al estudio de la  historia del  arte occidental especialmente. En ella se combinan los contenidos teóricos con las prácticas sobre la obra de arte para abordar el problema de la creación artística. Se incentiva, además, la participación grupal con el desarrollo de diversas propuestas, donde las nuevas tecnologías tienen un papel significativo. La utilidad de esta asignatura  en el contexto de los planes de estudio de los Grados de Historia, Geografía, Humanidades y Turismo, es evidente ya que proporciona los instrumentos adecuados para la adquisición de las competencias profesionales, muy en especial las relacionadas con los distintos ámbitos culturales del patrimonio artístico y con la docencia en Secundaria.  Además,  también se orienta a proporcionar, en el contexto de las Humanidades, una  formación  en Historia del Arte  a  cualquier profesional.

  • CE10 : Capacity to manage resources, computer techniques and Internet to update knowledge using the new information dissemination techniques.
  • CE4 : Master the use of the most significant concepts, categories, theories and themes of the different branches of historical research (economic, social, political, cultural, gender, etc.), as well as appreciating the importance that the different economic, political, social and cultural contexts have for research.
  • CE6 : Acquire the ability to make critical use of documentary historical sources and information gathering tools (document catalogues and bibliographies, archive inventories, electronic databases, etc.).
