Competencies and objectives
Course context for academic year 2023-24
This subject offers students an English level of linguistic competence B1.1 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) in oral and written communication within the field of tourism.
The subject is related to the different levels of English included in the Degree in Tourism (English I, II and III) and to the subject "Culture and institutions in English- speaking countries", given in the Degree in English Studies.

General Competences acquired at University of Alicante (CGUA)
- CGUA1 : Understand and express oneself in a foreign language in one's discipline.
- CGUA2 : Be able to use basic ICT tools at user level.
- CGUA4 : Be able to commit oneself ethically with sustainability, fundamental rights, equality of men and women, the principles of equal opportunity and universal accessibility for the disabled, as well as the values of a peaceful, democratic culture.
Specific Competences (CE)
- CE1 : Understand the principles of tourism: its spatial, social, cultural, legal, political, labour and economic dimension.
- CE13 : Master communication techniques.
- CE15 : Work with English as a foreign language.
- CE16 : Communicate orally and in writing in a second foreign language.
- CE24 : Analyse and use information and communication technologies (ICT) in the different fields of the tourist sector.
- CE29 : Work in different sociocultural contexts.
