Course context for academic year 2023-24

This subject explains and studies, firstly, the history of constitutionalism and the history of Spanish constitutionalism, in order to address, in a second block of content, the Constitution as a legal norm and the system of sources in it, as well as the structural principles of the legal system. With this subject, students must obtain a basic legal-constitutional training in the constitutional foundations of the Spanish legal system and the application of the system of sources in the social and democratic State subject to the rule of law. This subject thus contributes to the professional profile of the degree and to the development of the specific and generic competences of the degree by offering knowledge of the basis of the entire legal system. The role of the subject within the syllabus is articulated within the basic knowledge, being connected with the other legal knowledge of the syllabus.

  • CE1 : Capacidad para interpretar y comprender los fundamentos del sistema jurídico y los principios estructurales del Estado en la Constitución española.
  • CE13 : Capacidad para identificar y manejar las fuentes de información y otras bases de datos, incluyendo Internet y otras técnicas y aplicaciones informáticas, con especial atención a las propias de la Administración electrónica.
  • CE14 : Capacidad para redactar los documentos básicos de los procedimientos y actuaciones administrativas propias de la gestión pública.
  • CE15 : Capacidad para interpretar textos jurídicos propios de la gestión pública.

Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2023-24

The aim of the subject is to provide students with an introduction to Constitutional Law during the first four-month period, in which they will learn about the basic concepts, constitutional principles and values that inform the legal system. Subsequently, the organic part of the Spanish Constitution is studied, thus becoming acquainted with the institutions of the State.
