Competencies and objectives

 

Course context for academic year 2022-23

The main areas for the professional development of graduates in labor relations and human resources, according to current research are as follows:
1) Expert on labor relations,
2) Human resource manager/ department employee,
3) Labor market manager and mediator: employment agent, local development agent,
4) Prevention of occupational hazards,
5) Public employee,
6) Labor auditing.

This subject focuses in developing effective competences for the second and third of the above listed profiles, since it delivers the knowledge and skills needed to work in the area of human resource management.
This subject is actually divided into two semesters: the first part is taught in the second year and the other semester is part of the third year. A basic knowledge of fundamentals of business management, work organization and methods, psychology and labor law is required.

General Competences (CG)

  • CG2 : Capacitat per a interrelacionar les diferents disciplines que configuren les relacions laborals.
  • CG4 : Capacitat per a aplicar els coneixements a la pràctica.
  • CG7 : Competències informàtiques i informacionals.
  • CG8 : Competències en comunicació oral i escrita.

 

Specific Competences (CE)

  • CE12 : Capacitat per a aplicar tècniques quantitatives i qualitatives d'investigació social a l'àmbit laboral.
  • CE16 : Capacitat de transmetre i comunicar-se per escrit i oralment usant la terminologia i les tècniques adequades.
  • CE17 : Capacitat per a aplicar les tecnologies de la informació i la comunicació en diferents àmbits d'actuació.
  • CE18 : Capacitat per a seleccionar i gestionar informació i documentació laboral.
  • CE3 : Capacitat per a participar en l'elaboració i disseny d'estratègies organitzatives, desenvolupant l'estratègia de recursos humans de l'organització.
  • CE4 : Capacitat per a aplicar tècniques i prendre decisions en matèria de gestió de recursos humans (política retributiva, de selecció).

Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2022-23

Objectives according to Verifica file:
• To learn and understand the duties and responsibilities of a HR department, as well as its basic goals.
• To be able to understand the links between the different fields that constitutes the topic of HRM.
• To be able to deploy qualitative and quantitative tools for performing job analysis, competence analysis and researching personnel issues.
• To know how to select and manage HR- related information.
• To be able to participate in the formulation and design of the HR strategy.
• To know how to develop strategies, deploy tools and make decisions on HRM topics (planning, recruitment, selection, socialization, training, career development and compensation).
• To learn to analyze policies, assess their implications and write reports in which suggestions for improvement are presented.
• To be able to communicate orally and in written.
• To detect and be able to find solutions to problems linked to gender discrimination or any other aspect related to HR processes (specifically hiring, promotion and compensation).
• To be able to use a proper written speech and a specific vocabulary.

Other goals set by the lecturer:

• To understand how to analyze, formulate and implement a HR strategic plan in a company.
• To be able to carry out a diagnosis of the true HR policies and practices implemented by an organization, and to detect any issues in relation to them, paying aparticular attention to the human and economic consequences that may result.
• To be able to propose theoretical and practical solutions to the detected issues and express them in reports or letters of intent that may be used as an option for a future decision making process.
