Course context for academic year 2020-21

This Topic is part of OBLIGATORY MODULE Risk Mapping of the Master Planning and Management of Natural Hazards and its main objective is to make known the fundamentals of the use of Geographic Information Technologies, specifically, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for its application To the territorial analysis of NATURAL RISKS in research work or any professional performance of intervention and spatial planning, as well as the preparation of cartographic documentation on natural risks from this type of databases. Competences: TRANSVERSAL: CT2. - Use of geographical information technologies CT3.- Resolution of problems CT7.- Autonomous learning CT8.- Ability to apply knowledge to practice CT10.- Sensitivity towards issues related to sustainable territorial development SPECIFIC: CE3.- Express cartographically the information of the risk analysis CE5.- Interrelate the physical environment with the social and economic aspects of the territory CE7.- Understand the phenomena at different territorial scale CE8.- Prepare, process, interpret and present data using quantitative techniques Suitable for risk analysis

General Competences (CG)

  • CG2 : Prendre decisions i resoldre problemes en territoris de risc.
  • CG5 : Reconèixer la competència i habilitats de l'aprenentatge a nivell individual i grupal.
  • CG6 : Aplicar els coneixements de gestió del risc a la pràctica de la planificació territorial.
  • CG7 : Tenir sensibilitat cap a temes relacionats amb el desenvolupament territorial sostenible i la prevenció de riscos naturals.

 

Specific Competences (CE)

  • CE2 : Entendre els fenòmens de perillositat natural a diferent escala territorial.
  • CE3 : Comprendre la importància d'Interrelacionar el medi físic amb els aspectes socials i econòmics del territori en la gènesi i accentuació de riscos naturals.
  • CE4 : Utilitzar les tecnologies d'informació geogràfica aplicades a la planificació i gestió de riscos naturals.
  • CE5 : Aplicar sistemes d'informació geogràfica i elaborar cartografies de risc natural.
  • CE7 : Preparar, processar, interpretar i presentar dades usant tècniques quantitatives adequades per a l'anàlisi del risc.

Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2020-21

  • Know the basic fundamentals of the use of programs of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and its advanced and specific modules for the territorial management of natural hazards.
  • Use of GIS in the territorial analysis of NATURAL HAZARDS in research work or any professional application of this topic in spatial planning.
  • Elaboration of cartographic documentation on natural hazards from GIS
  • Use of the geographic, topological and spatial analysis tools of GIS for application in practical cases on the study of territorial processes on natural hazards.
  • Use of the tools of Geostatistics and spatial modeling with GIS for application in practical cases on the study of territorial processes on natural hazards.
  • Knowledge of the management of geosdatabases, basic aspects of the SQL data query language, exploitation of official geographic information repositories on natural hazards (IDE-E, TERRASIT, in formats and services standardized for the European Union - INSPIRE UE (FTP, WMS , WMTS, WCS, WFS, WPS ...)
  • Preparation for students to use this knowledge and skills acquired in the Master's Degree Work
