Course context for academic year 2018-19

MATHEMATICS II is taught during the first semester of the second year of the DEGREE IN SOUND AND IMAGE IN TELECOMMUNICATION. The course is run for 15 weeks through Theoretical and practical seminars (2 hours per week) and Computer Practices (another 2 hours per week). This subject is subordinated subjects Basic Mathematics and Mathematics I. This course dependent the subjects: Signals and Systems, Communication Theory, Digital Signal Processing, Digital Audio Processing, Digital Image Processing. This course is coordinated with all the subjects mentioned in the preceding paragraphs.

UA Basic Transversal Competences

  • CT13 : Capacity to use the scientific method for planning and carrying out different tasks, both at academic and professional level.
  • CT8 : Capacity to plan tasks and commit oneself to satisfying goals and deadlines.
  • CT9 : Capacity for group work.

 

Specific Competences:>>Basic

  • B1 : Capacity to solve any mathematical problems that may arise in engineering. Ability to apply knowledge of: linear algebra, geometry, differential geometry, differential and integral calculus, differential equations and partial derivatives, numerical methods, numerical algorithms, statistics and optimisation.
  • B4 : Understand and master the basic concepts of linear systems and the related functions and transforms, electric circuit theory, electronic circuits, physical principle of semiconductors and logical families, electronic and photonic devices, materials technology and their application to solve engineering problems.

 

Basic Transversal Competences

  • CT1 : Students should show they possess and understand knowledge in a field of study that continues from general secondary education and is usually found at a level which, although supported by advanced textbooks, also includes certain aspects that involve knowledge arising from the cutting edge of their field of study.
  • CT2 : Students should know how to apply their knowledge to their job or vocation in a professional manner and should possess those skills that are usually reflected when preparing and defending arguments and solving problems in their field of study.
  • CT3 : That students have the ability to gather and interpret relevant data (usually within their area of study) in order to make judgements that include reflection on relevant social, scientific or ethical issues.
  • CT4 : Students should be able to transmit information, ideas, problems and solutions to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
  • CT5 : That students have developed those learning skills necessary to undertake further studies with a high degree of autonomy.

  • C3 : Capacity to use computer tools to find bibliographic resources and information related to telecommunications and electronics.

Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2018-19

1) Learn the practical theoretical concepts related to probability theory and statistical equations and systems of differential equations, working with complex functions and the development of Fourier transforms, Laplace and Z transform
2) Ability to solve complex mathematical problems with initiative and skill, enabling him to address specific problems in the specialty applied successfully using mathematical tools learned.
