Course context for academic year 2014-15

Inglés II relies on the development of skills studied in Inglés I. The students will be able to read and understand academic texts.They will have enlarged their academic and technical vocabulary to fluently read and understand longer passages, this time, in the context of science and engineering. Inglés II will especifically deal with academic oral and written expression in the fields of science and engineering.

DEGREE IN SOUND AND IMAGE IN TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEERING

 

UA Basic Transversal Competences

  • CT11 : Capacity to learn and apply new concepts and methods in an autonomous and interdisciplinary fashion.
  • CT14 : Capacity for self-criticism needed to analyse and improve the quality of projects.
  • CT6 : Capacity to use the English language fluently to access technical information, respond to the needs of society and be self-sufficient when preparing one's professional career.
  • CT9 : Capacity for group work.

 

Basic Transversal Competences

  • CT2 : Students should know how to apply their knowledge to their job or vocation in a professional manner and should possess those skills that are usually reflected when preparing and defending arguments and solving problems in their field of study.
  • CT3 : That students have the ability to gather and interpret relevant data (usually within their area of study) in order to make judgements that include reflection on relevant social, scientific or ethical issues.
  • CT4 : Students should be able to transmit information, ideas, problems and solutions to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
  • CT5 : That students have developed those learning skills necessary to undertake further studies with a high degree of autonomy.

  • C1 : Capacity for self-learning of new knowledge and techniques appropriate for the conception, development and exploitation of telecommunications systems and services.
  • C3 : Capacity to use computer tools to find bibliographic resources and information related to telecommunications and electronics.

Main Objectives:

  • Acquire and know how to use English in the context of science and engineering.
  • Acquire competence in identifying and deciphering semantic and sintactical structures common in English aural and written discourse.
  • Develop an understanding of academic and specific vocabulary.
  • Acquire the basis to develop an understanding of the language of graphs.
  • Develop skills in expository writing.
  • Develop skills in pronunciation, rythm and intonation to apply in the different types of readings.
  • Acquire an effective approach to producing an oral presentation.
