Course context for academic year 2014-15
COURSE CONTEXT FOR PRACTICE GROUP D (ENGLISH GROUP): "Management and Administration of Nursing Services/Units" is a course included in the 3rd year of Undergraduate Nursing Programme at the University of Alicante, Spain.
This course is totally taught in Spanish language (through theoretical classes) except for one specific Practice Group that will be developed entirely in English (Group D). Students belonging to Group D will learn theory in Spanish but they will take all their Practice Seminars (based on Problem Solving Cases mostly) in English, therefore they will learn contents in Spanish and complete their Education on Nursing Management in English through the achievement of English writing, speaking and listening skills and capabilities.

- E02 : Base the interventions of Health Science professionals on scientific evidence and the available resources.

• To analyze the various roles, responsibilities and functions of the Nursing Professionals from a Management point of view.
• To identify specific patient needs to plan individualized caring programmes for the Healthcare System.
• To know/determine management processes and clinical pathways.
• To describe the skills to lead and coordinate a working team.
• To use management tools for clinical critical evaluation and audit of care according to relevant healthcare quality standards.
• To acquire specific knowledge for legal and ethical practice regarding Management and Administration.
- To learn specific vocabulary/glossary related to Management and Administration in English language.
- To be able to expose/speak about Healthcare Management contents in English language.
- To be able to participate in discussions/debates regarding Management and Administration in English languange.
