Course context for academic year 2011-12

Esta asignatura se centra en la economía de la Unión Europea (UE) analizada desde una perspectiva global y agregada. En el cuatrimestre anterior se ha cursado la asignatura Economía Mundial, ahora el análisis se adentra en el ámbito económico comunitario. A partir de estas coordenadas básicas mundiales y europeas, los estudiantes podrán, más adelante, adentrarse adecuadamente en el estudio de la economía española.
El desarrollo y la comprensión de esta asignatura no requieren del dominio de unas técnicas o de unos instrumentos altamente específicos de análisis económico, pero sí exigen cierta familiaridad con los mismos. En ocasiones será necesario recurrir a los conocimientos previos en materias como teoría económica, historia económica, economía mundial, estadística o econometría. Indudablemente, una buena base en las disciplinas anteriores ayudará a comprender e interpretar la realidad de la UE.

  • CE5 : Issue expert reports on specific economic situations (international, national or regional) or on sectors of the same.
  • CE8 : Identify the sources of relevant economic information and their content.

 

 

 

Learning outcomes (Training objectives)

The specific aims of the course are as follows:

  • To understand and critically assess how the European Union works.
  • To understand and explain EU decision-making processes.
  • To form a reasoned opinion of the role and influence of the EU in an international context.
  • To understand and assess the influence of the European integration process on the economies of EU member countries.
  • To understand a series of basic economic indicators (growth, labour market, distribution and inequality, etc.) and apply them to statistical information on the EU.
  • To understand and use with ease the main websites containing relevant international economic information.
