Course context for academic year 2011-12
Esta asignatura es de especialidad en un área, el crecimiento económico, íntimamente ligada a cursos de macroeconomía. Es por ello que los estudiantes ya han tenido un curso previo de introducción a la macroeconomía.
Las asignaturas con la etiqueta “macroeconomía” se centran más en la comprensión del ciclo económico, es decir, recesiones, expansiones, y las políticas de estabilización. Con este curso, se trata de ahondar en la comprensión de la tendencia de largo plazo del PIB per cápita, y de las políticas que pueden modificarla.
Se encuadra dentro de las materias de Análisis Económico.

Learning outcomes (Training objectives)
- To understand the main determinants of growth in per capita income.
- To increase comprehension of the wide divergence observed between different countries in terms of income levels and of the significant changes in the long term growth rates of certain economies.
- To familiarise students with the fundamentals of economic analysis relating to important growth models such as the Solow model (with and without human capital) and the endogenous growth model based on R&D investment.
- To introduce students to data analysis
Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2011-12
El objetivo de esta asignatura es entender los principales determinantes del crecimiento de la renta per cápita. Lo cual debe llevar a avanzar en la comprensión de la gran varianza en niveles de renta observada entre países, y los fuertes cambios en la tasa de crecimiento a largo plazo de ciertas economías. Así mismo, se pretende familiarizar al alumno con los fundamentos del análisis económico relacionados con importantes modelos de crecimiento tales como el de Solow (con y sin capital humano) y el de crecimiento endógeno basado en la inversión en I+D, e introducir al estudiante al análisis de datos.
