Learning outcomes (Training objectives)
- To understand the role of incentives and strategic decisions in corporate and consumer behaviour, and their importance when designing economic policies and institutions.
- To understand the dynamic nature of economic relations, the role of intertemporal decisions and the expectations of market participants.
- To understand market structures and their implications with regard to efficiency.
- To obtain basic knowledge of the problems that arise when market information is asymmetric.

Esta asignatura es la segunda en la secuencia de Microeconomía y sigue a la asignatura Introducción a la Microeconomía del primer semestre de primer curso. Se encuadra dentro de la materia Análisis Económico.
El Análisis Económico moderno se divide en dos grandes campos de estudio: la microeconomía y la macroeconomía. La Microeconomía estudia el comportamiento de agentes económicos individuales, es decir, de cualquier individuo o entidad que desempeñe algún papel en el funcionamiento de la actividad económica. Los contenidos convencionales de la Microeconomía son: la teoría de los precios, del consumo y de la producción, el equilibrio competitivo, los mercados no competitivos, la eficiencia económica y la teoría del bienestar.
En la asignatura "Introducción a la Microeconomía" se analiza el comportamiento óptimo del consumidor y del productor, se estudian las curvas de demanda y oferta del mercado, y se analiza el equilibrio del mercado perfectamente competitivo. La asignatura "Microeconomía Intermedia" es la continuación del análisis microeconómico de los mercados. En ella se estudian los mercados no competitivos, la eficiencia económica y la teoría del bienestar.
