Course context for academic year 2011-12

En la asignatura Geografía Urbana se abordan contenidos vinculados al desarrollo, a la planificación y a la gestión del espacio urbano; y se considera el valor social, político, cultural, ambiental y educativo que tiene el estudio de las ciudades en el conocimiento integral del territorio y de las sociedades.
En esta asignatura se concibe el espacio urbano en su evolución y dimensión morfológica y funcional; incorporando en su estudio aportaciones de otras ramas de la Geografía Humana que tienen presencia en éste y en distintos cursos del Grado: Geografía Económica, Geografía Política y Social o Geografía Humana Aplicada a la Ordenación del Territorio, entre otras asignaturas. Además, se presta atención a las diferencias escalares del medio urbano y a los contrastes que existen en y entre las distintas ciudades y sistemas urbanos del mundo.

  • CE2 : Capacity to understand and handle the concepts, methodology and techniques of Geography and Spatial Planning correctly.
  • CE3 : Capacity to understand and use the concepts of other disciplines correctly, especially history, law and town planning.
  • CE4 : Capacity to combine temporal and spatial dimensions when analysing and interpreting spatial planning.
  • CE5 : Capacity to read and interpret spatial information provided by statistical tables, graphs, maps, plans and satellite images correctly.
  • CE6 : Capacity to transform and synthesise spatial information provided by statistical tables, graphs, maps and plans.
  • CE7 : Capacity to determine and interpret the elements of the area in question according the scale of analysis.
  • CE8 : Capacity analyse territory as a complex, interrelated and interdependent system.
  • CE9 : Capacity to present and transmit knowledge related to spatial analysis in an ordered, simple and clear manner, appropriate to the context.

Conocer, identificar y clasificar la estructura de las ciudades y los usos funcionales del suelo urbano.

Estudiar y reflexionar sobre los procesos de formación de las ciudades.

Conocer y utilizar conceptos y técnicas básicas en planeamiento urbano y en el análisis socio-espacial de las ciudades.

Fomentar la capacidad crítica y el interés que suscitan las causas y los efectos socio-territoriales del fenómeno urbano.
