The general objectives of the Master’s Degree in Local Development and Land Use Innovation are:
The aim is to use an applied approach to provide students with the tools needed to incentivise and promote sustainable endogenous development by use and value enhancement of existing territorial resources.

The course programme for the Master’s Degree in Local Development and Land Use Innovation has a total of 60 ECTS taught over one academic year and spread over two semesters of 30 ECTS credits each.
The course programme has three modules consisting of compulsory subjects. The first two are given in the first semester, with the second semester being devoted to the third module and the final project.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND SELECTION CRITERIA
According to the Regulations of the University of Alicante, the following requirements must be complied to have access to official taught Master’s degrees:
- Non- recognised degree certificates shall require a technical report showing an equivalence statement issued by the University of Alicante (ContinUA – Continuing Education Centre), for which the corresponding fee should be paid.
- Access through this way does under no circumstances imply prior official approval of the holder’s degree certificate, nor its recognition for purposes other than studying a master's degree.
ADMISSION AND ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
1.- Admission
Applicants considered suitable for admission to the Master’s Degree will be university graduates employed in local development and regional innovation businesses or organisations, as well as graduates of Social Science degrees specialising in local development and regional innovation,Geography, Economics, Business Administration and Management, Tourism or Sociology.
2. Assessment criteria
Should demand exceed the number of places available, and only in this case, the Master’s Academic Committee will select applicants according to the the following ranking system:

Students holding degrees other than those given preference to and with no accredited professional experience in the field of local development and regional innovation must have successfully completed a complementary education, comprising 12 credits in Geography and 12 credits in Economics, in order to be admitted to the Master’s Degree. Applicants who have not studied sufficient credits in these subject areas in their previous studies may complete the remaining necessary credits by choosing from among the subjects selected by the Master’s Degree course Coordinator each academic year from the Geography and Economics Degree programmes at the University of Alicante.

Students who intend to study for an officially recognised Master’s Degree at the UA should complete pre-enrolment in accordance with the guidelines and deadlines specified annually.

Following publication of the final list of those admitted to the course, an email containing a user password will be sent to successful applicants, enabling them to enrol via the Campus Virtual in accordance with the guidelines and deadlines specified annually.

Academic and research.
In addition to the general objectives, there are two possible specialisation profiles for graduates: academic and introduction to research.
1) Academic Profile: graduates are provided with the latest tools and knowledge in the field of local development and land use innovation. This specialisation can help students to improve their professional practice in the field of local development and land use innovation whether working as consultants, documentalists, mediators and advisers to national and international organisations, or as experts in assessing regional development projects, programmes and plans, in the role of specialists within public administration land use planning or territorial development bodies, specialists or managers of public or private local development and land use innovation organisations, or as teachers on occupational training courses.
2) Introduction to research profile: the Master’s course has been designed to comprise the training period for the University of Alicante “Local Development and Land Use Innovation” Doctorate Programme.

3. Studies being phased out and replaced by the proposed degree course:
With the implementation of the new Master’s Degree in Local Development and Land Use Innovation, the official Master’s Degree in Local Development and Land Use Innovation from the University of Alicante (2007 Plan) will cease to exist.
