Joaquin Moncho Vasallo is Full Professor in the Department of Nursing, Preventive Medicine and Public Health and History of Science at the University of Alicante since 2008. Previously, and since 1991, he was FPI grant holder and from 1995 to 2008 Full Professor at the University of Alicante.
He holds a degree in Mathematical Sciences, specialising in Statistics and Operations Research. Doctor of Medicine in the PhD programme in Public Health at the University of Alicante in 1995 and extraordinary doctorate award.
He has taught subjects such as Biostatistics, Research Methodology, Quantitative Research Methods, Demography, Biostatistics and demography applied to the study of the community, etc. ) in undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Health Sciences (Nursing, Nutrition, Master in Nursing Sciences, Master in Health Sciences Research, Master in Nursing Research, Master in Advanced Optometry and Visual Health, Master in Clinical and Community Nutrition, Interuniversity Master in Public Health University of Alicante and Miguel Hernández University, Master in Nursing Sciences of the Universitat Jaume I). He has also taught numerous postgraduate courses in various health institutions (Universities, Health Administration Schools, Professional Societies,...).
He has supervised 12 doctoral theses and has participated as principal investigator or collaborator in more than 10 publicly funded research projects. Current lines of research include: Mortality Analysis, Immigration and Health, Inequalities in Health and Mental Health, as a result of which he has more than 40 publications in national and international journals, as well as being the author of several monographs, books and book chapters.
For 9 years, in the period 1998-2007, he was Academic Secretary of the University School of Nursing of the University of Alicante, period in which he was also Director of the Master and Doctorate in Nursing Sciences, Co-Director of the Higher Degree in Nursing, Co-Director of Academic Extension of the Higher Degree in Nursing and of the Official Master in Nursing Sciences, Mobility Coordinator, Secretary of the University Network of the Official Master's Degree and PhD in Nursing Sciences, co-director of the double degree programme of the University of Alicante and the Hogeschool Zeeland of Holland, responsible for the Work Placement Programme for students of Human Nutrition and Dietetics and Secretary of the Joint Commission of the Department of Health-University of Alicante.
