  • Estudio de secuencias repetidas en procariotas.
    Caracterización de las secuencias repetidas CRISPR (Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats) de procariotas. Significado funcional y aplicaciones en tipificación molecular. Implicaciones evolutivas. Componentes de un sitema de inmunidad frente a elementos genéticos foráneos basado en las repeticiones CRISPR. Aplicaciones en biotecnología y clínica.

Growth and manipulation of microorganisms. Detection and identification of microorganisms by molecular and culture methods. Genetic modification of prokaryotes. Analysis of gene expression in prokaryotes. Microbiological analysis of food.

 

 

Results

Identification in prokaryotes of a new genetic barrier against transmissible elements (plasmids and viruses) Development of a method for molecular typing of prokaryotes based on PCR amplification of CRISPR elements. Induction in prokaryotes of immunity against virus infection. Identification of virus components to be used as antibacterials.
