Architectural Composition 3 is the third course within the Architectural Composition Area, which establishes a field of knowledge whose main subjects are history, theory and criticism of architecture.
In this regard, the content of this course can be conceptually envisaged as the continuation of the Architectural Composition 2 programme.

1. The programme in Architectural Composition 3 aims to familiarise students with basic concepts, movements and major authors of modern architecture, in both fields of architectural theory and practice.
2. The course place a strong emphasis on linking the specificity of architectural knowledge with the urban, artistic, philosophical, political and material context for the works of architecture. Thus, the goal is to encourage the appreciation for the built environment and architectural heritage.
3. The course also explores multiple relationships with other subjects and cross-curricular topics regarding areas and disciplines such as Graphic Expression, Architectural Projects, Urban Planning, Architectural Building and Structures.
4. The programme in Architectural Composition 3 brings together multiple reflections concerning the current and far-reaching problems of architecture and city planning. Such a synthesis is always performed from the different point of views offered by history, theory and criticism.
5. It is intended to help students to create a database registering the architectural achievements and cultural upheavals that have occurred since the Industrial Revolution. The goal is to provide guidance on the management of bibliographical sources, periodicals and the Internet information, as well as to produce interdisciplinary tools for probing the wider significance of such shifts over time.
