Course context for academic year 2019-20

This course is an introduction to Economics. It will be divided into two parts: Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. In the Microeconomics part of the course we will study the basic principles of economics first by participating directly in experiments and then by studying the relevant economic theory and its applications. During the experiments you will be able to observe the economic principles in action. After each experiment, having collected and worked on the data, we will present the economic theories designed to explain the principles you discovered in the experiment and its applications. In the Macroeconomics part of the course we will study the main macroeconomic indicators, the role of governments and central banks in regulating the economy and the main monetary policy mechanisms.
