Course context for academic year 2020-21

This subject is part of a subject that intend the student applies, in a real situation, in the clinical and community context, the theoretical and practical contents acquired and developed in the classroom.

In this way, practicum II: Community Nursing II is linked to the practicum prior to this and subsequent ones. So that the practice is acquired from observation to execution and from health to illness.

Specific Competences (CE)

  • E-2 : Base the interventions of Health Science professionals on scientific evidence and the available resources.

  • 15 : Identify, integrate and relate the concept of health and caring from a historical viewpoint to understand the evolution of nursing care.
  • 19 : Direct, evaluate and provide integrated nursing care for individuals, families and the communities.
  • 20 : Capacity to describe the foundations of the primary level of health and the activities to be carried out to offer integrated nursing care to individuals, families and societies.
  • 21 : Understand the function, activities and cooperative attitude that a professional needs to develop in a Primary Health Care team.
  • 23 : Identify the factors related to health and contextual problems to attend individuals in situations of health and illness as components of a community.
  • 24 : Identify and analyse the influence of internal and external factors on the health levels of individuals and groups.
  • 25 : Apply all necessary methods and procedures in one's field to identify the most significant health problems in a community.
  • 26 : Analyse statistical data referring to population studies, identifying the possible causes of health problems.
  • 27 : Educate, facilitate and support the health and well-being of the members of a community whose lives are affected by problems associated with health, risk, illness, disability or death.
  • 32 : Select interventions aimed at treating or preventing problems associated with health deviations.
  • 33 : Show a cooperative attitude with other team members.
  • 42 : Be able to offer health education to parents and/or primary carers.

Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2020-21

The specific objectives of the professor are framed in the following blocks:

- Procedures in Community Nursing. At least: Collection and sampling, Determination of IRN by digital puncture, Administration of medicines (except parenteral). It will also be taken into account, if it is carried out: Determination of the Mantoux test, Administration and control of Immunotherapy: child, adult and hyposensitive vaccines.

- Promotion activities and HPE in adults. Prevention activities for the most prevalent health problems in PA. At least: Prevention of influenza in people at risk, prevention of cardiovascular risk factors, prevention of tetanus, prevention of cancer risk factors. It will also be taken into account, if carried out: Prevention of Hepatitis B in people with risk practices, Prevention of risk behaviours: traffic, alcohol, etc.

- Activities of control and monitoring of health problems. At least: Care for people with sedentary lifestyles, Care for overweight or underweight people, Care for tobacco users, Care for frequent symptoms: fever, Information and advice on common diseases, Prevention of potential complications in people with hypertension, Prevention of potential complications in people with diabetes, Prevention of potential complications in people with oral anticoagulation. It will also be taken into account, if carried out: Care for people in any other situation worthy of attention in primary health care.

- Home care. At least: Home assessment of patients and carers, Prevention of skin disorders. Detection of risk of UPP, Prevention of falls, trauma and injuries, Prevention of feeding and moisturizing problems. It will also be taken into account, if carried out: any other activity in electoral care.

- Activities linked to the diagnosis of community health. Analysis and planning of the implementation of programmes, actions and activities related to community health: Identification of needs, Prioritisation of detected needs, Planning of a community intervention programme, Evaluation of programmes.

- Other activities in the community. Collaboration and advice to teachers, Direct intervention in the school, Activities with parents of students, Attention to the population in their closest and most usual environment, Other community interventions.
