Course context for academic year 2020-21

Thanks to a practical approach, this on-line course will allow students to improve the two communicative skills in English: oral comprehension and expression: LISTENING and SPEAKING. Communicative strategies for group debates are developed around a series of different topics each day (Body, Time, Countries, Directions, Clothes, Health, Weather, Animals, Travelling, Food).

This subject will be taught on-line but sessiones will be very interactive and students will be required to complete several on-line miniactivities and exercises in real time through an on-line application that will be explained by the teachers the first day of class. There will be two sessions a week on TUESDAY and THURSDAY from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The rest of the teaching hours will be taught through the Moodle platform (preparatory activities for each session). Students will connect through  Google Meet and will use an interactive on-line tool with several miniactivities and lessons prepared by the teachers  (video lessons, voice recording, games, debates, collaborative whiteboards, etc.). The lectures will be explain the tool and provide all the information and timetable on the first day of class. This couse will be very practical and interactive and students will need to participate in order to increase their learninh progress.

Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2020-21

The main objective is to improve the two English skills that are most difficult for students, oral comprehension and expression: LISTENING and SPEAKING. The course will be very practical and each session will be divided into LISTENING exercises (sounds, etc.) and SPEAKING exercises (pronunciation, intonation, etc.).

Class activities (individual and in groups) will be carried out through an on-line tool and will include different types of  exercises (voice recording, videolessons, games, debates, etc).

The specific objectives will be:  

1. Increase oral skills in English through practical exercises and oral expression games
2. Increase aural skills in English through practical exercises and listening comprehension games
3. Enlarge the vocabulary in English 
4. Strengthen communicative competence in English 
5. Develop the autonomous learning of students
