Course context for academic year 2018-19

La asignatura Química Aplicada es la única que dentro del plan de estudios del Grado en Nutrición Humana y Dietética que corresponde a la Materia “Química”, por lo cual su papel en el contexto del plan formativo del grado es esencial para que los alumnos comprendan las bases de muchos de los procesos químicos, bioquímicos y biológicos que posteriormente estudiarán en otras asignaturas. Considerando la diversidad de conocimientos químicos de base que poseen los alumnos que ingresarán en el Grado, es necesario que los conceptos físico-químicos básicos (estequiometría, enlace químico, termodinámica, cinética y equilibrio químico) que rigen los procesos antes citados sean ya conocidos por los alumnos antes de recibir otros conocimientos dentro del plan de estudios del Grado. Por ello dichos conceptos deben ser impartidos de forma explícita y clara y dándole una especial importancia a la resolución de problemas químicos que representen el amplio abanico de posibilidades que los alumnos se encontrarán a lo largo del Grado. Por todo ello se considera esencial que la asignatura Química Aplicada se imparta en el primer semestre del Grado y como base para otras materias a desarrollar con posterioridad.

Specific Competences (CE)

  • E10 : Acquire practical experimentation skills, including the correct handling of reagents and chemical instruments, as well as the assessment of risks involved with laboratory work and proper waste management.
  • E11 : Analyse and interpret experimental laboratory results, relating them to the properties and reactivity of organic and inorganic compounds.
  • E4 : Establish the relationships between the properties of substances and their chemical composition.
  • E5 : Acquire basic knowledge of chemical transformations: Stoichiometry, thermochemistry, thermodynamics and chemical balance.
  • E6 : Understand the most relevant properties of water and its importance in chemistry and biochemistry, as well as of solutions and colloids.
  • E7 : Understand the foundations of chemical kinetics.
  • E8 : Understand and characterise the main types of chemical reaction (acid-base, reduction-oxidation, etc.) as well as their main applications.
  • E9 : Solve qualitative and quantitative problems concerning fundamental and applied aspects of chemistry.

  • Conocimiento de las normas de seguridad básicas en laboratorios de Química.
  • Fomentar las aptitudes en el planteamiento y resolución de problemas químicos básicos.
  • Desarrollo de capacidad crítica para la resolución de problemas.
  • Realización de cálculos sencillos y adquisición de las herramientas necesarias para ello.
  • Conocimiento de las leyes básicas que rigen los equilibrios químicos
