General Competences (CG)
- CG-3 : Basic understanding of the use and programming of computers, operating systems, databases and computer programs applicable to engineering.
UA Basic Transversal Competences
- CT-11 : Capacity to learn and apply new concepts and methods in an autonomous and interdisciplinary fashion.

- CB-1 : Students should show they possess and understand knowledge in a field of study that continues from general secondary education and is usually found at a level which, although supported by advanced textbooks, also includes certain aspects that involve knowledge arising from the cutting edge of their field of study.

- Dotar a nuestros Ingenieros Civiles de los conceptos y principios básicos de la programación, concretándose en un lenguaje específico de alto nivel, el lenguaje C y Visual Basic dentro de la hoja de cálculo Excel, para que se convierta en sus manos en una herramienta poderosa, sofisticada y a la vez sencilla, que les permita alcanzar los conocimientos necesarios para elaborar programas de cualquier tipo, desde resolución de problemas matemáticos complejos hasta cálculo de construcción.
- Así como saber emplear aplicaciones informáticas necesarias en el ejercicio de su profesión haciendo un especial hincapié en la búsqueda y verificación de información científico-técnica en Internet: Motores de búsqueda, confiabilidad, verificación de fuentes, técnicas de contraste de información.
