Course context for academic year 2019-20

This subject will provide students the assimilation of methods and strategies used for the digital processing of the audio signals. Using as a starting point the knowledge adquired in the recommended subjects, the processing of the audio signals will be detailed and studied in depth, including: analog to digital audio conversion, processing, sound effects, compression, spatial audio, etc..

This subject serves as a foundation for other subjects such as: Advanced Audiovisual Systems, Digital Sound Synthesis, Digital Signal Processors and Audiovisual Production Centers.

To follow the subject without problems it is recommended to have completed previously:

20010 - Acoustics
20014 - Signals and Systems
20015 - Communication Theory
20019 - Digital Signal Processing

It is also desirable, but not essential, to have completed:

20011 - Analog Electronics
20018 - Acoustic Transducers

E2 : Capacity to analyse, specify, implement and maintain television, audio and video systems, equipment, amplifiers and installations, both fixed and mobile.

To understand the foundations of digital audio compression.
To understand the procedure of the human binaural localization and the technical systems that use it to recreate spatial sound.
To understand the different formats and media used for recording and transmission of digital audio.
To understand the error correction procedures used in digital audio.
