Course context for academic year 2020-21
Fundamentals of data communication networks. Network architectures. Systems and technologies for data communications: performance and standards. Techniques, protocols and devices for transmitting data. Local area networks and access networks. Wireless Networks. Networking and routing. Internet.
This course does not require to attend previous courses.

- C14 : Understand the methods for interconnecting networks and routing, as well as the fundamentals of planning, sizing networks according to traffic parameters.
- C6 : Capacity to conceive, deploy, organise and manage telecommunications networks, systems, services and infrastructures in residential (home, urban and digital communities), business and institutional contexts, as well as understanding their economic and social impact.
- C7 : Understand and use the basic principles of programming for telecommunication networks, systems and services.

Study of the architecture of OSI and TCP / IP network. Communication protocols (physical, link, network and transport). Concepts of speed and multiplexing. Analysis and performance of the transmission medium. Networking. Access Technology LAN: Ethernet networks, wireless networks, ADSL, HFC.
