MATHEMATICS 2

## Competencies and objectives

#### Course context for academic year 2019-20

It is the second mathematics subject scheduled for the first course. As a continuation of Mathematics I, taken in the first term, it presents Calculus tools, now with functions of several variables. The core of the subject contains optimization techniques applied to economic and business problems.

#### Course content (verified by ANECA in official undergraduate and Master’s degrees)

General Competences (CG)

• CG2 : Capacity to work in a team.
• CG3 : Capacity for self-learning.
• CG4 : Apply professional criteria based on using technical instruments to analyse problems.
• CG5 : Capacity to make decisions by putting theoretical knowledge into practice.
• CG6 : Obtain important information that is impossible for non-professionals to recognise from the data.
• CG8 : Analyse problems using critical reasoning, without prejudices, precisely and rigorously.
• CG9 : Capacity to synthesise.

General Competences acquired at University of Alicante (CGUA)

• CGUA1 : Read and communicate in a foreign language in a professional environment, especially in English.
• CGUA2 : Use computer tools and information and communications technology as a matter of course throughout one's professional career.
• CGUA3 : Capacity for oral and written communication.

Specific Competences (CE)

• CE11 : Understand the most common strategic analysis tools for analysing companies in their context.
• CE12 : Understand and apply different economic analysis tools to study companies in their context.
• CE2 : Integrate oneself in any functional area of a small, medium or large company or organisation and carry out all the management tasks involved without problems.
• CE3 : Use relevant computer records to evaluate the situation and possible evolution of a company.
• CE6 : Understand economic institutions as the result and application of theoretical or formal representations of how the economy works.
• CE7 : Be able to apply different technical instruments for marketing and commercial research to analyse companies in their context.
• CE8 : Use accounts to analyse a company in its context by using different technical instruments.
