Competencies and objectives

 

Course context for academic year 2019-20

The main objective of this subject is the acquisition of the B1.2 level in the CEFR in both oral and written communication in tourism contexts.
In this 2nd semester of English, a major relevance is given to productive and communicative skills, and for this reason, the subject offers the students the possibility of getting in the business framework for the management of tourist destinations. Among the different professional written and spoken genres in the field of tourism, special emphasis will be done in the creation of reports, minutes, commercial proposals, reviews, mails, brochures, meetings, presentations, etc.

General Competences acquired at University of Alicante (CGUA)

  • CGUA1 : Understand and express oneself in a foreign language in one's discipline.
  • CGUA2 : Be able to use basic ICT tools at user level.
  • CGUA4 : Be able to commit oneself ethically with sustainability, fundamental rights, equality of men and women, the principles of equal opportunity and universal accessibility for the disabled, as well as the values of a peaceful, democratic culture.

 

Specific Competences (CE)

  • CE1 : Understand the principles of tourism: its spatial, social, cultural, legal, political, labour and economic dimension.
  • CE13 : Master communication techniques.
  • CE15 : Work with English as a foreign language.
  • CE16 : Communicate orally and in writing in a second foreign language.
  • CE24 : Analyse and use information and communication technologies (ICT) in the different fields of the tourist sector.
  • CE29 : Work in different sociocultural contexts.
