Course context for academic year 2019-20

La Historia Económica es una asignatura de carácter formativo que, además, aporta una dimensión adicional y necesaria a las enseñanzas que recibe el futuro economista como son: la visión del largo plazo, el énfasis en los procesos de cambio tecnológico y de cambio estructural, y la consideración de todos aquellos aspectos institucionales, políticos y sociales que condicionan la estructura cambiante y evolutiva de la economía. El estudio a largo plazo de la evolución económica debe permitir al futuro economista la adquisición de la perspectiva histórica de las diferencias que persisten hoy en las rentas por habitante entre países y reflexionar, de este modo, sobre las causas del crecimiento y el desarrollo. La importancia de la asignatura radica en que la concepción que tengamos sobre lo ocurrido condiciona nuestra manera de ver el presente. La Historia Económica es un puente entre Historia y Economía; y la colaboración entre estas dos disciplinas es especialmente fructífera y enriquecedora al aportar cada una su propia concepción teórica y metodológica. Por lo tanto, dada la naturaleza de esta asignatura, tiene interrelación con el resto de Departamentos que imparten su docencia en el Grado de Economía
