Course context for academic year 2020-21

Las infecciones oftálmicas constituyen un apartado más dentro de la Microbiología Clínica, disciplina que estudia y trata los procesos e interacciones entre un patógeno y su organismo hospedador. El ojo es uno de los más importantes órganos sensoriales de que se dispone, y sus alteraciones sufridas por procesos infecciosos pueden suponer una merma, a veces irreparable, de sus funciones, llegando en ocasiones incluso a comprometer la integridad del individuo afectado. Puesto que en muchos casos la progresión de un proceso infeccioso se realiza con una elevada rapidez, una importante labor del facultativo oftálmico es saber identificar a tiempo las distintas patologías oculares con el objetivo de remitir al paciente al especialista, así como conocer las causas y los riesgos que propician estas infecciones a fin de prevenirlas. Así mismo, es importante que este profesional sanitario conozca las bases terapéuticas de las enfermedades infecciosas que afectan al sistema visual.

  • CES38 : Acquire the ability to work in teams as multidisciplinary and unidisciplinary units made up of visual health professionals and other personnel.
  • CES39 : Acquire the ability to carry out the profession respecting the autonomy of the patients, their beliefs and culture, as well as their determining genetic, demographic and socioeconomic factors, applying the principles of social justice and understanding the ethical implications in the context of a world in change.
