Competencies and objectives

 

Course context for academic year 2012-13

En esta asignatura se establecerán los fundamentos teóricos que explican los condicionantes
de la vida en medios terrestres y acuáticos, así como las adaptaciones de los organismos a
sus características.

Se aborda el estudio de la estructura de las comunidades y cómo ésta varía en el espacio y
en el tiempo. Se estudia la transferencia de materia y energía en el ecosistema y niveles
superiores de organización. Finalmente se analizan los efectos de la acción del hombre en
el ambiente, discutiendo posibles estrategias para buscar explotación sostenible de poblaciones.
Estos conceptos teóricos serán ilustrados con estudios de casos prácticos y temas de actualidad.
Estos conocimientos suponen la base de disciplinas profesionales, tales como la ordenación del
territorio, restauración de ecosistemas, selvicultura, gestión de espacios naturales,
evaluación de impacto ambiental, etc.

  • CE10 : Understand the fundamentals of the regulation of vital functions of organisms through internal and external factors and identify mechanisms for adapting to the environment.
  • CE12 : Understand the fundamentals of Biogeography.
  • CE17 : Understand the principles of thermodynamics and their applications in bioenergetics.
  • CE23 : Analyse the components of the physical environment: hydric, atmospheric and terrestrial and their relationship with the biotic environment.
  • CE27 : Relate the flows of energy and the biogeochemical cycles in the working of ecosystems.
  • CE3 : Understand and apply mathematical and statistical methods for validating models from experimental data applied to Biology.

  • CE31 : Recognise and implement good scientific practices for measurement and experimentation.
  • CE34 : Plan, design and execute practical research studies, evaluating the results.
  • CE35 : Interpret data gathered from observation and measurement in the laboratory and the field.
  • CE36 : Prepare, present and defend scientific and technical reports both in writing and orally to an audience.
  • CE37 : Ability to find, analyse, understand and write scientific and technical texts.
  • CE38 : Use inductive and deductive methods correctly in the field of Biology.
  • CE47 : Characterise, manage, conserve and restore populations, communities and ecosystems.

Se consideran objetivos específicos de esta asignatura los siguientes:
1.- Conocer los factores ambientales que condicionan la vida en el planeta y la distribución de los organismos y los biomas.
2.- Comprender los flujos de materia y energía relacionados con la dinámica trófica a escala de ecosistema
3.- Aplicar las técnicas de análisis y representación de datos a los resultados obtenidos en las prácticas de campo y laboratorio
4.- Conocer las técnicas de muestreo, análisis y elaboración de informes a partir de los datos generados en las prácticas y bibliográficos
5.- Aplicar los conocimientos y técnicas adquiridos para la caracterización de ecosistemas y el diseño de medidas de conservación, gestión y restauración
6.- Reconocer y analizar los problemas ambientales relacionados con la Ecología Global
