Course context for academic year 2018-19

The marine biology is a assignatura optativa of fourth course of the Llicenciatura of Biology, to the University of Alicante. His profile is vinculat to the areas of knowledge of Zoology and Ecology, and between his descriptores find such as a biodiversitat marine, resources demersales and pelágicos, measures of ordenació and conservation, marine areas proteges and artificial reefs. Recent researches suggest that the diversity of the seas has been repeatedly subestimada, and that the numeral of new shapes to know can be greater in the seas that in the terrestrial means. As a indicator, cost the fact that the numeral of phyla present in the marine means is very greater that the ecosystems, and that the half of the phyla animal appears only in the sea. Another aspect to consider of the sea is his character as a rebost of the mankind. The marine ecosystem provides a big part of the proteina animal consumed by the mankind, and besides to a very affordable price. The sea, besides, is resulting to be a promising source of products farmacològics, with properties antivirals and antitumorals. On the other hand, the sea is one of the tourist destinations for excellence of the mankind, generating an economic activity a lot important and in continuous road of expansion, that offers as a alternative to some littoral communities as a alternative to the direct exploitation of alive resources. On the other hand, some marine structures how the coral reefs, the grasslands of phanerogams or the mangroves actuan as a defensive barriers against storms or the own dynamics costanera, assistant to the protection of the coast, of the existent infrastructures and of the human populations that populate it. The marine means helps tambien in the ralentització of the sobrecalentamiento of the Land, that causes slow, but inexorably, the rise of the level of the sea, with all the implications that this gate regarding modification of the linea of coast and the disappearance of teams and human goods. The sea has been, besides, the cradle of several teorias and important fundamental concepts for the general scientific knowledge, with important implications for the conservation and the management. To this have to add him the fact that the marine means supposes a bit more than 70% of the terrestrial surface, and surpasses in more than 300 times the volume of vital space offered by the terrestrial means.
