Course context for academic year 2018-19

 

El objetivo de la Geometría Diferencial y también de esta asignatura es el de aproximar objetos diferenciables por objetos lineales, más fáciles de estudiar con las técnicas del Álgebra Lineal.  Se adapta así a los objetos curvados las técnicas del Análisis real de una y varias variables, para acabar obteniendo información sobre la “forma” de los objetos.

La visualización es muy importante para la Geometría. Esta asignatura facilita al estudiante el interpretar las ecuaciones y en general las fórmulas como objetos visibles, y recíprocamente, estudiar los problemas geométricos de los objetos que vemos por medio de métodos analíticos. Esta asignatura proporciona pues al estudiante un “diccionario” entre dos “idiomas”: el  de las cosas que vemos y el más abstracto de los números y las fórmulas.

Se presentarán también aplicaciones prácticas de la Geometría a la Ingeniería, a la Arquitectura, a la Física considerando también las nuevas tecnologías: GPS, antenas parabólicas, Diseño asistido por ordenador (CAD), telecomunicaciones, ...

Para una correcta comprensión de la misma el estudiante necesita muchas nociones de otras asignaturas del primer año: Álgebra Lineal I, Análisis de una variable real I, Álgebra Lineal II, Análisis de una variable real II, Análisis real de varias variables I, Topología básica, Geometría Lineal, y Análisis real de varias variables II.

A su vez los contenidos de esta asignatura serán útiles para otras asignaturas del Grado: Topología avanzada y Teoría global de superficies.

Specific Competences (CE)

  • CE1 : Understand and use mathematical language. Acquire the capacity to enunciate propositions in different fields of Mathematics, to construct demonstrations and transmit the mathematical knowledge acquired.
  • CE10 : Communicate, both orally and in writing, mathematical knowledge, procedures, results and ideas.
  • CE2 : Understand rigorous demonstrations of certain classical theorems in different fields of Mathematics.
  • CE3 : Assimilate the definition of a new mathematical object in terms of others already known and be able to use said object in different contexts.
  • CE5 : Propose, analyse, validate and interpret models of simple real-life situations, using the most appropriate mathematical tools for the purpose.
  • CE6 : Solve mathematical problems using basic calculus skills and other techniques, planning their resolution according to the tools available and any time and resource restriction.

 

Specific Generic UA Competences

  • CGUA1 : Understand scientific English.
  • CGUA2 : Possess computer knowledge related to the field of study.
  • CGUA3 : Acquire or posses basic ICT (Information and Communication technology) skills and manage the information obtained appropriately.
