Course context for academic year 2021-22

Se adquieren conocimientos útiles para la comprensión de los procesos geológicos tanto activos (actuales) como los que han actuado en la historia geológica de la superficie de la Tierra, y para la valoración de recursos econónicos, de riesgos geológicos y de aspectos del medio ambiente. La Sedimentología está relacionada y coordinada con otras asignaturas del Grado en Geología, particularmente con la Estratigrafía, Paleontología, Geomorfología, Petrología y Geología Histórica.

General Competences (CG)

  • CG1 : Develop the capacity for analysis, synthesis and critical reasoning.
  • CG3 : Solve problems effectively.

 

Specific Competences (CE)

  • CE1 : Acquire the fundamentals of geological terminology, nomenclature, agreements, scales and units.
  • CE11 : Understand the different geological processes at work on the Planet.
  • CE14 : Relate the different types of rock with their geodynamic contexts.
  • CE15 : Understand present environmental processes and any possible risks associated with them.
  • CE25 : Gather, represent and analyse data using appropriate, field, laboratory and office techniques.
  • CE26 : Integrate field and laboratory data with theory, following a sequence of observation, synthesis and modelling.
  • CE27 : Evaluate the problems involved in selecting samples, accuracy, precision and uncertainty when gathering, recording and analysing field and laboratory data.
  • CE31 : Be aware of the bibliographic resources for Geology.
  • CE6 : Recognise fossils and their use in dating and interpreting sedimentary material.
  • CE9 : Understand the significance of the time scale in geology, as well as the spatial scale.

 

Generic UA Competences

  • CGUA2 : Understand sources of information for Geology and know how to manage them.
  • CGUA3 : Express oneself correctly, both orally and in writing, in either of the two official languages of the Region of Valencia.
