World Tourism Economics is a subject aimed at providing students with the basic instruments and knowledge necessary to understand and interpret the tourism phenomenon from an international economic perspective. It considers the multiple variables that may influence the activity together with the assessment of its costs and benefits, with appropriate analytical and methodological tools through the most relevant sources and registers of information. Special interest will be given to the process of globalisation in its different aspects and its relationship with the economic reality, international tourism flows, the new economy or knowledge economy and the world dynamics of companies in the sector, the impact of technology and capital movements.
The subject World Tourism Economics is related to the subjects "World Economics" and "Market Structures" of the Degree in Tourism and in TADE, serving as a complement to both, presenting aspects of the world economy as applied to the tourism sector to help students understand economic theory and consolidate their knowledge of the market.

- To know the economic and institutional environment in which the tourism company is inserted.
- To enable students to understand the evolution of the economy, structural changes and cyclical variations and their impact on tourism activity.
- To know how to integrate innovation as a strategy for competitiveness.
- To become familiar with the so-called Knowledge Economy and to know the new ICT tools, as well as their possibilities.
- Understand the trends and international dynamics of international investment flows in tourism markets.
- Interpret the international economic determinants for business decision-making in tourism.
- Differentiate the role of tourism in different situations of economic development.
