Competencies and objectives

 

Course context for academic year 2025-26

Estudio avanzado de los fundamentos históricos Mediterráneo Occidental en la Edad Moderna en los cuatro ámbitos historiográficos básicos (política, economía, cultura y sociedad), desde una revisión de los enfoques clásicos a partir de las tendencias historiográficas más punteras, en un panorama de constante renovación. Se articula en 4 asignaturas en las que se estudiarán 1) las instancias y actores de poder específicos del ámbito de estudio, en sus diversas plasmaciones político-institucionales (ya sean reales, estamentales, territoriales o locales), así como de sus medios y competencias; 2) los cambios e innovaciones experimentados por la economía, las resistencias y conflictos que frenaron o favorecieron su adopción, y los factores que favorecieron la intensificación del tráfico mercantil y generaron la conformación de estrechos vínculos entre los hombres de negocios; 3) las manifestaciones de las formas de religiosidad y espiritualidad tanto en el marco de las iglesias organizadas como de las tradiciones culturales populares; así como de las vías de transmisión e intercambio de las manifestaciones culturales y de las relaciones entre las elites intelectuales; y 4) los criterios que conformaban los sistemas de jerarquización de la sociedad y los mecanismos de ascenso y descenso social, con especial atención a los resortes de poder de las clases dirigentes.

  • COMP05 : Analyse the modern history of the Western Mediterranean from a comparative perspective.
  • COMP06 : Analyse the local and regional history of the Western Mediterranean in the Modern Age.
  • CT01 : Contribute to the design, development and implementation of solutions that address social needs, using the Sustainable Development Goals as a benchmark.
  • CT02 : Demonstrate critical and self-critical thinking within the context of the degree programme, taking into account aspects such as professional ethics, moral values and the social implications of the various activities undertaken.
  • CT03 : Work effectively as part of a team, taking on responsibilities and leadership roles, and contributing to improvement and collective development.
  • CT04 : Take the initiative in learning, making informed decisions in different contexts, forming judgements based on experimentation and analysis, and applying knowledge to new situations.
  • CT05 : Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, adapting to the nature of the situation and the audience.
  • CT06 : Propose creative and innovative solutions to complex situations or problems within the field of study, in order to address a range of professional and social needs.
  • CT07 : Recognise and understand, within the context of the degree programme itself, the inequalities based on sex and gender that exist in society; to take into account the different needs and preferences based on sex and gender when designing solutions and solving problems.

  • HAB02 : Draft and manage the most appropriate documents, reports and operational procedures for the problems arising in research into the modern history of the Western Mediterranean.
  • HAB03 : Critically analyse works in the field of Modern History of the Western Mediterranean.
