Course context for academic year 2020-21

Esta asignatura es la primera de las dos correspondientes a la materia Técnicas para el Análisis Económico y la Investigación. La asignatura pretende introducir a los estudiantes en la formación especializada para la utilización de los instrumentos fundamentales (fuentes estadísticas y técnicas básicas) en el análisis económico aplicado. Para ello se centra, en primer lugar, en la sistematización, análisis y manejo de las diferentes fuentes estadísticas (información estadística agregada y microdatos) nacionales e internacionales de las que proceden la mayor parte de los datos económicos y sociales para la investigación en economía aplicada.
         Se aborda, en segundo lugar, el conjunto de los principales instrumentos e indicadores para el análisis descriptivo, así como su uso y elaboración básica a partir de algunos programas informáticos para análisis de datos (EXCEL, SPSS…). En tercer lugar, se orienta a los estudiantes para la valoración y correcta utilización de estas fuentes estadísticas. Finalmente, se emprende la reflexión práctica sobre cuándo y cómo es conveniente utilizar modelos econométricos, con qué objetivos y qué técnica es la más apropiada en cada caso. A partir de todo ello, los estudiantes habrán recibido el entrenamiento mínimo para iniciar la elaboración de investigaciones en economía aplicada.
          Mediante esta asignatura, pues, se pretende introducir a los alumnos a la investigación en el ámbito de las ciencias sociales, desde el punto de vista de la metodología generalmente aceptada en la investigación científica. Con los conocimientos proporcionados, los estudiantes dispondrán ya de la base inicial para la elaboración de su futuro trabajo de fin de máster y, en su caso, su proyecto de tesis doctoral.

  • CE6 : Issue specialised reports advising on specific economic situations (international, national or regional) or on sectors of the same.
  • CE7 : Identify sources of economic information that is difficult for less specialised researchers to understand and know how to analyse its content.
