Course context for academic year 2017-18
We will introduce students to the major causes of natural and anthropogenic degradation of semiarid and arid ecosystems, different methodologies for the assessment of the state of ecosystems, the main limitations for the spontaneous recovery of ecosystems and the utility of ecological restoration to overcome these environmental problems. Students will learn various concepts associated with restoring and discuss its goals. Finally, they will know first hand examples of restoration and will become familiar with available eco-technology.
