Course context for academic year 2010-11

L’assignatura Iniciació a la Llengua Catalana I s’ofereix com a matèria obligatòria en el catàleg d’assignatures de primer curs. Tot i que es presenta com a llengua A, Iniciació a la Llengua Catalana s’imparteix com una llengua C o D amb l’objectiu d’adaptar l’oferta obligatòria de la llengua A cooficial amb el castellà al context sociolingüístic de la Universitat d’Alacant.

 Aquesta assignatura, juntament amb Iniciació a la Llengua Catalana II conformen una oferta paral•lela a les assignatures Llengua Catalana per a la Traducció I i II de primer i segon curs, respectivament. El requisit administratiu per a cursar les assignatures d’Iniciació a la Llengua Catalana I i II és que l’alumne/a no haja realitzat l’exercici de Valencià: Llengua i Literatura de segon de Batxillerat en la Prova d’Accés a la Universitat.

El perfil de l’alumnat que es matricula en aquesta assignatura està format per una tipologia variada que inclou: alumnes de zones castellanoparlants de les comarques pròximes a la Universitat d’Alacant que han demanat l’exempció de l’assignatura Valencià: Llengua i Literatura en algun moment de la seua escolarització (sol ser en batxillerat); alumnes estrangers establits al País Valencià que han estat exempts de l’assignatura de Valencià: Llengua i Literatura en tots o en algun curs de secundària o batxillerat; alumnes provinents d’altres comunitats autònomes; alumnes que han accedit des d’altres carreres o a través de la prova d'accés de majors de 25 anys; finalment, alumnes Erasmus que volen iniciar-se en el coneixement de la llengua catalana en un nivell A1-A2.

General Competences (CG)

  • CG1 : Ability to communicate in the different working languages: languages A (Catalan/Spanish, Level C2 of the European framework), languages B (Level B2/C1), languages C (Level B1/B2 for languages that are taught in secondary education and Level A2/B1 for those not taught in secondary education) and languages D (Level A1/A2). Ability to communicate (oral and written) is understood to refer to understanding and expression and includes grammatical subcompetence (mastery of the linguistic code), sociolinguistic subcompetence (regulates adaptation to the context and is linked with the linguistic variation occurring according the different register elements), pragmatic subcompetence (related to functional use of the language and mastery of discourse, cohesion and coherence). Communicative competence must include at least two languages and cultures (includes passive and active communication stages, as well as the textual conventions of different working cultures and the corresponding cultural, encyclopaedic and thematic knowledge).
  • CG2 : Instrumental competence. Includes the use of documentary sources, terminology search and the management of glossaries, databases, etc., and also the use of the most useful computer applications for exercising the profession (text editors, desktop publishers, databases, Internet, e-mail, translation and editing programmes, translation memories, etc.), as well as other tools such as the fax, dictaphone and the mechanisms and apparatus needed for interpreting booths, etc.).
  • CG3 : Competence to exercise the profession on the labour and deontological market, consisting of the knowledge and skills related to acting as a professional translator and the job market. Includes basic knowledge for managing one's professional practice and factors associated with public and private law, the economy and business (contracts, tax obligations, budgets, financial aspects, invoicing, etc.) and with the deontological code and professional associations. Also such skills as memory, reflexes, creativity, capacities such as trustworthiness, attention span, organisation and planning, memory, capacity for analysis and synthesis, automation of the most common tasks, decision-making, interest in a job well done and a professional approach, the ability to adapt to new situations, initiative, etc. In addition, interpersonal skills such as the ability to relate with others and professional teamwork, not only with other translators and professionals in the field (proof-readers, documentalists, terminologists), but also with clients, initiators, authors, users and experts in the subjects being translated, etc.

-Competència comunicativa A2 en llengua catalana

4.1.1. Objectius conceptuals

1. Conéixer les estructures gramaticals implicades en les funcions lingüístiques que corresponen a un nivell A2.

2. Conéixer la normativa gramatical més bàsica implicada en l`elaboració de missatges escrits propis d`un nivell A2.

4.1.2. Objectius procedimentals

3. Comprendre frases i expressions utilitzades habitualment i relacionades amb temes d`importància immediata (per exemple, informacions personals bàsiques, informacions familiars, compres, geografia local, ocupació).

4. Comunicar-se en situacions senzilles i habituals que exigeixen un intercanvi simple i directe d`informació sobre temes familiars i habituals.

5. Descriure, de manera senzilla, aspectes de l`experiència personal, aspectes de l`entorn immediat i assumptes relacionats amb necessitats immediates.Comprendre i produir missatges orals adequats a les diverses situacions de la vida quotidiana.

4.1.3. Objectius actitudinals

6. Evitar estereotips sobre les llengües que puguen dificultar la comunicació eficaç en un nivell A2.

7. Apreciar la llengua catalana i la diversitat lingüística de l`estat espanyol.

8. Apreciar la llengua catalana com a vehicle de comunicació en els territoris on es parla.

9. Apreciar les creacions culturals fetes en llengua catalana.
