General Competences (CG)

  • CG1 : Capacity for analysis, synthesis and critical reasoning.
  • CG4 : Capacity for teamwork and leadership.
  • CG6 : Capacity to understand the role of language in the construction of human beings as active members of a linguistic and cultural community and relate this to the function of individuals in society.
  • CG7 : Theoretical and practical understanding and appreciation of diversity and multiculturalism both nationally and internationally.

 

Specific Competences (CE)

  • CE1 : Be able to master the English language in practice and in theory.
  • CE22 : Be able to write texts of different kinds.
  • CE23 : Be able to translate texts of different kinds.
  • CE5 : Be able to learn and use English grammar correctly.

Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2018-19

  1. To develop the communicative competences of the pupils' English at a B1 level according to the European common frame of reference (CEFR).
  2. To begin to understand the main ideas in clear and normal speech dealing with everyday issues that occur at work, at school, during leisure time, etc.
  3. To reflect on one's own learning in order to establish and recognise the weaknesses, threats, strengths and opportunities that arise.
  4. To study the basics of English Grammar.
  5. To use the English language as an instrument of communication.
  6. To develop professional skills in the English language: presentation of an idea, techniques of debate, development of an argument, etc.
  7. To start spontaneously engaging in a conversation that addresses everyday issues (eg, family, hobbies, work, travel, etc.).
  8. To know and begin to practice the basic tools of linguistic analysis, such as parsing, word classes, etc.
  9. To know how to function in usual situations in English speaking countries.
  10. To use UACloud as well as Moodle with all its basic utilities (materials, debates, links, etc.) as a virtual learning platform. Use word processors and other basic office automation utilities in assigned individual or group tasks.
  11. To know now how to use a language lab to improve learning.
  12. To use knowledge, materials and resources to be able to learn independently
  13. To communicate creatively in oral presentations and communications.
  14. To use translation as a tool for learning and contrasting languages.
  15. To collaborate with the goal of achieving a common result or end, be it a written work, an oral presentation, a debate or a conversation.
  16. To be aware of the cultural differences between the native culture and that of the English speaking countries.
  17. To commit to work for equality between men and women and value the diversities of today's society with an attitude of respect for the fundamental rights of people.
