Course context for academic year 2021-22

La epidemiología nutricional es una de los campos más fascinantes y de utilidad para el profesional dietista-nutricionista entre otras porque permite conocer lo que comemos y la calidad de la dieta a nivel poblacional. Así mismo permite conocer qué tan saludables estamos de acuerdo con la composición corporal.

Los estudios descriptivos permiten describir el estado nutricional, así como los problemas de salud relacionados con la dieta, desde que aportan información sobre la distribución de los hábitos de vida, consumo alimentario, actividad física y variables sociodemográficas de la grupos poblaciones y en áreas geográficas especificas.

Por otro lado, los estudios analíticos permiten conocer la asociación entre diferentes factores de exposición de la dieta y el desarrollo de enfermedades. Para ello, se requiere la aplicación de técnicas estadísticas adecuadas.

La epidemiologia nutricional es una herramienta muy útil para determinar la evidencia científica de los problemas relacionados con la dieta y la nutrición a resolver en salud pública. Su finalidad es aportar información que sirva de apoyo a la toma de decisiones en los distintos ámbitos relacionados con la salud como en las políticas de nutrición, en la planificación sanitaria e intervenciones en Nutrición Pública.

  • E13 : Understand, evaluate critically and know how to use information sources related to nutrition, diet, lifestyles and health factors.

  • E15 : Understand the essential elements of the profession of a Dietetist-Nutritionist and carry out one's profession respecting other health care professionals.

  • 54 : Design and carry out nutritional assessments to identify the diet and nutrition needs of the population, as well as identifying the determining factors of nutritional health.
  • 55 : Design, intervene in and implement diet-nutrition education and diet-nutrition training programmes.
  • 56 : Collaborate with planning diet-nutrition policies for dietary-nutritional education of the general public.
  • 57 : Acquire the capacity to take part in promotion, prevention and protection programmes focused on the community and public health.
