The final Dissertation/Project of the Undergraduate Programmes (belonging to the Faculty of Health Sciences: Nursing and Nutrition) will be held in the last year of the degree (fourth year) specifically in two courses directly related (planned at the final two semesters). In order to unify criteria and procedures that ensure homogeneity in the organization and evaluation of the Final Dissertation/Project, a Rulebook was developed at the University of Alicante (approved on 30th of October, 2012) and later adapted to the characteristics of the healthcare degrees (and approved again by The Faculty of Health Sciences Board).
The Final Dissertation/Project is an original and personal research work/study which may be individual and coordinated, and that each student will develop under the guidance of a mentor. The Final Dissertation will allowe the display of integrated training contents and skills/capabilities associated with specific healthcare professional topics.It is important to remark that the Final Dissertation/Project is protected by the Copyright Act Law.
From the Faculty of Health Sciences, groups (total of: 20 groups) have been organized to establish dissertation guidelines: 12 groups at the Department of Nursing; 6 groups belonging to the Department of Community Nursing and Preventive Medicine and Public Health and History of Science; 2 groups at the Health Psychology Department. The student will be assigned to one of these groups through the enrollment process, in which their preferences will be taking into account. Finally, each department will determine the assignment mentor-student.

SPECIFIC AIMS FOR THE METHODOLOGY OF THE FINAL DISSERTATION AT THE UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES: The overall aim implies that students have achieved all the capabilities and skills required to become a professional, linking the theoretical contents of the topic selected (for the final dissertation) with those ones coming from professional practice. The final dissertation must integrate research skills, analysis and synthesis as well as the capacities of interpretation and practical application to healthcare contexts. Each type of dissertation topic (chosen by the students from a previous list) will be mentored by an expert professor/educator (with a specialization related to the topic) and will have its own goals, adequate methodology and working schedule. Those students choosing the English Option, will also have to demonstrate English language skills related to: writing (their dissertation in English, using specific vocabulary/glossary according to the specific topic selected through the whole development of the methodology); speaking (in English while exposing their presentation as well as along the whole methodological development); reading (in English for International Literature Review and Critical Analysis of Scientific Articles written in English) and listening (to the members/experts of the Evaluating Panel and their considerations about the Dissertation exposition as well as with their Mentor's comments through the whole Dissertation development).
