Course context for academic year 2014-15

 

La Zoología I es una asignatura obligatoria que se imparte durante el primer semestre del segundo curso del Grado de Biología.

La Zoología constituye junto con la Botánica y la Microbiología, uno de los pilares básicos de la biodiversidad. El objetivo fundamental de la asignatura es ofrecer al alumno una visión general del mundo animal, con el fin de que conozca los principales linajes evolutivos de los metazoos, así como las características básicas de su plan corporal, morfología y adaptaciones. Dada la gran diversidad del Reino Animalia (casi las 3/4 partes de todos los organismos conocidos son animales), la asignatura se centrará en el estudio en los grupos basales de Metazoos y en linaje de los Metazoos Bilaterales Deuteróstomos. Esta materia se apoya en las nociones impartidas en la asignatura de Biología de primer curso. Además se complementa con la Zoología II (impartida durante el segundo semestre), que aborda el estudio de los Metazoos Bilaterales Protóstomos.

Esta materia resulta pues fundamental, para la formación de los futuros biólogos y constituye una base importante para tanto para otras asignaturas obligatorias del Grado como la Ecología de poblaciones y comunidades, la Biología Marina, la Fisiología Animal (I y II), o las optativas Biogeografía o Biología de la Conservación, entre otras.
