Course context for academic year 2018-19

La asignatura Técnicas de Separación forma parte del módulo Fundamental de la titulación de Grado de Química y más concretamente de la materia Química Analítica que junto a Química Inorgánica, Química Orgánica y Química-Física constituyen el eje principal de la titulación.
El objetivo general de la materia es que el alumno adquiera los conocimientos necesarios para desarrollar, optimizar, aplicar técnicas de separación e interpretar los resultados obtenidos de cara a ofrecer información de calidad de tipo cualitativo y cuantitativo.
Esta asignatura es fundamental dentro de la materia ya que proporciona al alumno los conocimientos básicos de las principales técnicas de separación cromatográficas y no cromatográficas dentro del contexto del proceso analítico general.
Los conocimientos que se adquieren en la asignatura contribuirán a proporcionar al futuro profesional la formación básica necesaria para desarrollar su actividad en el campo de la Química.
En primer lugar se introducen algunos conceptos básicos sobre las técnicas de separación y su clasificación para a continuación pasar a estudiar la extracción líquido-líquido, sólido-líquido, sus fundamentos y aplicaciones.
Una de las formas mas frecuentes en la actualidad de realizar separaciones analíticas es la aplicación de métodos cromatográficos que posibilitan separar y determinar componentes en mezclas complejas. El estudio sobre estos métodos se aborda a continuación. El enorme impacto de las cromatografías y el número creciente de aplicaciones las convierten en imprescindibles en todos los campos de la ciencia. Inicialmente se estudian los principios generales aplicables a todo tipo de cromatografías para posteriormente estudiar la cromatografía de gases y la cromatografía líquida de alta resolución detallando los aspectos instrumentales y las principales aplicaciones de las mismas.
Los conocimientos adquiridos se complementarán con la resolución de ejercicios en los que el alumno los aplicará a casos prácticos, interpretando los resultados obtenidos.
