Course context for academic year 2018-19

La Geología Estructural es la rama de las Ciencias Geológicas que se ocupa del reconocimiento, de la representación y de la interpretación genética e histórico-evolutiva  de las estructuras de las rocas en tanto en cuanto son producidas por procesos de deformación en la corteza terrestre, es decir, por fenómenos diastróficos. Así pues quedan fuera de su objetivo las estructuras primarias de las rocas (especialmente de las sedimentarias e ígneas) y otras de pequeña magnitud relacionadas con procesos superficiales (deslizamiento de laderas, arrastre por glaciares, hidratación, disolución). Por el contrario se incluyen las estructuras debidas a procesos gravitatorios de ámbito mayor (diapiros, mantos gravitatorios y otras estructuras de colapso).
La asignatura GEOLOGÍA ESTRUCTURAL II se inserta en el módulo fundamental del título de grado que constituye el cuerpo de conocimientos obligatorios en la formación geológica del alumno. En especial tratará de los aspectos cinemáticos y dinámicos que atañen a la deformación de las rocas. Su contenido complementa el de la asignatura GEOLOGÍA ESTRUCTURAL I que se imparte previamente.
Esta materia, además de poseer un cuerpo doctrinal propio, presenta una actividad de carácter transversal, ya que a través de ella el alumno ejercita sus habilidades en las distintas materias geológicas.
Esta asignatura tratará los siguientes aspectos fundamentales: (1) Profundizar en el conocimiento de los procesos que generan las estructuras tectónicas; (2) Conocer cómo se deforman las rocas al ser sometidas a esfuerzos; (3) Profundizar en los métodos de representación de las estructuras geológicas.

  • CE26 : Integrate field and laboratory data with theory, following a sequence of observation, synthesis and modelling.
  • CE27 : Evaluate the problems involved in selecting samples, accuracy, precision and uncertainty when gathering, recording and analysing field and laboratory data.
  • CE28 : Know how to interpret and prepare geological maps of different kinds (geological, geomorphological, geoenvironmental, geotechnical, metallogenetic, hydrogeological, etc.), and other methods of representation (stratigraphic columns, geological cross-sections, etc.).
  • CE31 : Be aware of the bibliographic resources for Geology.

 

Generic UA Competences

  • CGUA1 : Acquire the computer knowledge needed for storing, analysing, synthesising and modelling the data required for the degree course.

Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2018-19

Objetivos que figuran en la ficha de la asignatura (Verifica):
1) Adquirir conocimientos sobre los conceptos de esfuerzo y deformación y su aplicación al caso concreto de las rocas.
2) Profundizar en el conocimiento de los procesos que generan las estructuras tectónicas.

3) Estudiar la deformación dúctil de las rocas sometidas a esfuerzos.
4) Técnicas y métodos de representación y tratamiento de datos de campo en Geología
Estructural.


Objetivos específicos que el profesor añade:
1) Comprender el significado de las estructuras menores y su relación con las estructuras cartográficas.
2) Utilizar sistemas de posicionamiento y sistemas de información geográfica (SIG) aplicados a la Geología.
3) Desarrollar la visión espacial
4) Elaborar informes sobre bases cartográficas propias con fines aplicados y de investigación.
5) Conocer las herramientas de búsqueda de fuentes bibliográficas en Geología.
