Course context for academic year 2019-20

Es una asignatura de Geomorfología general, para estudiantes que cursan el grado de Geología. Con ella el alumnado adquirirá una visión completa de lo que esta rama de la Geología. El programa se centra fundamentalmente en la naturaleza, configuración y génesis de las formas de la superficie terrestre y los procesos que las modifican considerando las distintas escalas de influencia. El carácter dinámico de la superficie de la Tierra a lo largo del tiempo y su dependencia de factores climáticos, litológicos y estructurales hace de la Geomorfología una excelente herramienta para la interpretación del pasado reciente del Planeta Tierra, siendo especialmente útil en la interpretación climática de la Glaciación Cuaternaria. Asimismo, el estudio de las formas del terreno tiene una particular importancia a la hora de realizar un estudio del medio físico y, especialmente, por la influencia que pueda tener esta disciplina para inventariar y relacionar otros elementos y procesos, ya sea con fines de ordenación territorial, protección ante los riesgos naturales, aprovechamiento de los recursos naturales, o gestión ambiental y patrimonial, entre otros. El temario se ordena en cuatro bloques temáticos que tratan que el alumno adquiera tanto las nociones básicas teóricas como un buen manejo en las metodologías y herramientas prácticas que actualmente se utilizan para efectuar estudios sobre Geomorfología.

General Competences (CG)

  • CG1 : Develop the capacity for analysis, synthesis and critical reasoning.
  • CG2 : Show ability for efficient and effective management/direction: entrepreneurial spirit, initiative, creativity, organisation, planning, control, decision-making and negotiation.
  • CG4 : Demonstrate the capacity for teamwork.
  • CG5 : Learn autonomously.
  • CG8 : Show the ability to transmit information, ideas, problems and solutions in Geology to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.

 

Specific Competences (CE)

  • CE12 : Understand the different geomorphological systems and interpret the elements of terrestrial relief.
  • CE15 : Understand present environmental processes and any possible risks associated with them.
  • CE20 : Understand and manage the geological heritage, integrated in the Natural Environment.
  • CE25 : Gather, represent and analyse data using appropriate, field, laboratory and office techniques.
  • CE28 : Know how to interpret and prepare geological maps of different kinds (geological, geomorphological, geoenvironmental, geotechnical, metallogenetic, hydrogeological, etc.), and other methods of representation (stratigraphic columns, geological cross-sections, etc.).
  • CE30 : Understand past, present and future interactions between the natural environment and human beings, as well as analysing and predicting their future.

 

Generic UA Competences

  • CGUA1 : Acquire the computer knowledge needed for storing, analysing, synthesising and modelling the data required for the degree course.
  • CGUA2 : Understand sources of information for Geology and know how to manage them.
  • CGUA3 : Express oneself correctly, both orally and in writing, in either of the two official languages of the Region of Valencia.
