Course context for academic year 2019-20

El mar, desde un punto de vista estrictamente químico, puede considerarse una disolución de elevada concentración salina en la que se producen de manera simultánea multitud de procesos químicos.Bajo esta perspectiva la asignatura proporciona conocimientos relacionados con dos áreas de estudio diferentes. Por un lado, aporta los conocimientos teóricos necesarios para comprender la complejidad de los procesos químicos que tienen lugar en el agua de mar y, por otro, presenta las técnicas de análisis cualitativo y/o cuantitativo necesarias para la caracterización de dichos procesos.Los contenidos de la asignatura son básicos para abordar adecuadamente estos estudios de grado dada la complejidad del medio marino siendo muy necesarios para el estudio de Oceanografía Química y Contaminación Marina, asignaturas que se imparten en el 5º semestre de la titulación.

Specific Competences:>>Theoretical

  • CE12 : Apply the principles and procedures used in Chemistry to the marine environment and pollution.
  • CE13 : Understand basic sampling techniques for water column, seabed and associated organisms, as well as measurement techniques for structural and dynamic variables.
  • CE14 : Acquire knowledge of the different fields of application (resources, planning and management, infrastructures, etc.) of the marine sciences.
  • CE4 : Acquire and understanding of basic chemical terminology and processes.
  • CE5 : Acquire a basic understanding of mathematics (algebra and calculus) and statistics.

 

Specific Competences:>>Ability

  • CE20 : Show knowledge and understanding of inductive and deductive methods, the elaboration of hypotheses and experimental design.
  • CE23 : Know how to work on oceanographic campaigns and in the laboratory in a responsible and safe manner, encouraging teamwork.
  • CE30 : Be able to carry out standard sampling procedures related to research tasks in the sea and in the laboratory.
